WM SPEED

A race that has everything the full version offers, just in a faster and shorter package. You will experience swimming in the cold, dark currents of the Elbe, challenging cycling in the hills of the Czech-Saxon Switzerland, and the iconic finish line at Ještěd. All of this with the support of your crew, who will accompany you and take care of your mental and physical well-being.

We have created Winterman SPEED for those who want to enter the world of extreme triathlons and enjoy the journey toward the full version. It’s perfect for those who don’t enjoy long training hours but love to compete, as well as for young guns and speedsters who feel best in fast-paced middle-distance triathlons and are looking for something beyond an ordinary road triathlon.

Winterman SPEED is no weekend fun. It is a demanding triathlon with a very challenging profile, requiring great strength, endurance, and resilience.

Swim

The 2 km swim starts in the dead arm of the Elbe in the winter harbor, where you will cover the first kilometer in calm yet very cold water. The second kilometer follows the same course as the full version, taking you through the river’s current with a few buoys and finishing under the illuminated Děčín Castle on the right bank of the river.

Bike

The cycling part, approximately 90 km long, takes you through the entire Czech-Saxon Switzerland, from Děčín to Malevil. It largely follows the full course, maintaining its technical difficulty, steep climbs, adrenaline-filled descents, and breathtaking national park scenery. For the safety of all competitors, specific rules apply, including designated refreshment points. The support vehicle route will differ significantly from the cycling route, and for example, the first 32 km must be completed without any external assistance. However, there will be enough spots along the way where you can receive help from your support crew.

Run

The shortest route from Malevil to the very top of Ještěd—this is the 28 km running segment of Winterman SPEED. Along the way, you will experience a mix of terrains and surfaces, as well as a stunning view of Liberec from the summit of Ještěd at the finish line. The first part of the course follows field and forest paths, while the second part reconnects with the full version’s route, which consists mainly of asphalt and a long, demanding climb to the finish.
